Come and Learn: How to apply for Patents, Trademarks and Copyrights - Direct from the source: The U.S. Patent Office. You will also learn about USPTO programs that can allow you to work without an attorney or have a volunteer attorney appointed by Legal Corp.  Speaker, Mindy Bickel (Associate Commissioner for Innovation Development), has over 25 years’ experience at U.S.P.T.O. with indepth Patent and Patent Application knowledge/expertise to share. 

Additionally, the event will be hosted by the JJ Hill Center, a nationally renowned research center focused on entrepreneurship.  You will a have a chance to learn about the resources that the JJ Hill Center has to offer entrepreneurs and inventors like you.

Speaker: Mindy Bickel; USPTO career includes:

  • Managing the USPTO Patents Ombudsman Resource Program for patent applicants, agents and attorneys.
  • Developing training programs for examiners and technical support staff.
  • Developing/Implementing USPTO Patent Training Academy, a program designed to train 1,200 new patent examiners each year in an eight-month training program.
  • Overseeing responsibility of the Office of the Commissioner for Patents, independent inventor programs, and Coordinating speaking requests and tours received by the patents organization.

Ms. Bickel received her undergraduate degree in chemistry from Bryn Mawr College. She also has M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. in biophysical inorganic chemistry from Columbia University.
